"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover." -- Mark Twain

I work at a library now, too, strictly in the reference department. I spend my time either shelving books (we have to put little blue tally marks in the backs so we can tell which ones have been used in the last year) or going through the P section (I've gotten to PC!) and writing down in my legal pad the call numbers, sizes, and titles of books that do not have little tally marks in the back, not from this year, last year, the year before that... you get the picture.
It's really boring, but I find that incredibly refreshing. It's better than a history paper.
If work is boring, you are doing the wrong kind of work! Consider changing to something different.
I hope you will see more of Switzerland. I live in Zurich, which you've already visited, and I would say the French-speaking part of the country is more interesting and has better restaurants. Try Fribourg and Geneva.
Also, don't miss Liechtenstein, one of Europe's smallest countries. It hasn't a railway station, so you get the train to Sargans and continue by bus. There's an interesting restaurant in Sargans in an old castle - Schloss Sargans. An easy walk from the station.
If work is boring, then you are not doing what you love or are good at.I was in a similar situation as you and I did the next best thing: i chucked my job :-) and blog irregularly....looking forward to you 1 line input here at :
